Recycled PET - well it's Polyester but its Recycled making these cool Leggings
What is Recycled PET? Tricky question: Well its polyethylene terephthalate (PET), aka Polyester, the world's most common fabric. At Shift we are (generally) Anti-Polyester as it represents the worst of Fast Fashion. It is non-renewable, made from petroleum, it is in no way organic, nylon fabrics are toxic, it does not biodegrade BUT we can recycle it.
PET is recycled from plastic drink bottles - so yes, please do keep recycling those Coke Zero bottles. Recycled polyester is considered to be an eco textile, green even, because less energy is needed to make it than what is needed to make original polyester. Furthermore we want to keep the plastic bottles out of landfill.
These leggings: a waist band in burnt orange setting off dark space speckled with tiny teardrops. These leggings are surprisingly comfy, and bendy, and actually we decided good for pool swimming and training triathlon. We know that you go from run to swim to bike! What Wait, oh watching triathlon from the treadmill is just as cool in these leggings.
